Marc Almond

Peter Mark Sinclair Almond, mas conocido como
MARC ALMOND nació en 1959 en Southport, Lancashire, Inglaterra.
En 1979 formó junto con Dave Ball el duo de Techno-Pop
"Soft Cell", quienes obtuvieron su primer y espectacular éxito en el año 1981 con la canción "Tainted Love". Es una canción originalmente escrita por Ed Cobb, del grupo The Four Peps, grabada en 1964 para Gloria Jones, y que ha sido versioneada en múltiples ocasiones, aunque fueron Soft Cell quienes la pusieron en la cúspide de los éxitos musicales.

El duo se separó en 1983 por problemas internos, y cada una de las dos partes continuó su carrera musical en solitario. Dave no alcanzó el éxito esperado en solitario, cosa que si ocurrió con Marc, pese a probar varios intentos en otras formaciones.

Dejó atrás la música electrónica, para pasar a retratar canciones de pecado, desamor y romance, y se convirtió en un referente de la cultura gay.
Según él mismo, la palabra que mejor le define... "Erótico".
Pienso en Marc Almond como la segunda mejor voz de Inglaterra después del gran Peter Murphy.
Aunque pasen los años, para mi Marc Almond siempre ira asociado a su tupecillo juguetón y a su sonrisa picaruela.
